About the workshop

  • Are you an accomplished guitar player but have never played traditional Irish music?
  • Are you starting out with Irish trad and would love to improve your skills?
  • Would you like to join in a traditional Irish music session?
  • Or would you simply like to be able to accompany friends or family playing Irish music?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, this is the workshop for you!

We will look at rhythms, chord shapes, an exploration of double drop D tuning, developing fingerstyle techniques, harnessing the power of altered tuning, arranging well known tunes/songs and more. There will also be a guest musician to play melody!

What people say

"What a few days we had in stunning West Cork with Jim. I've been playing guitar for twenty five years but I learned more in three days with Jim than years of trying to figure it out on my own! Not only a great teacher, Jim was patient, accommodating and very inspiring. I can't recommend a 'stay and play' enough."

"Jim's is such a talented guitarist and an easy person to learn from. I learnt what I wanted to learn at my own pace with great direction from him. My wife accompanied me and enjoyed exploring Clonakilty whilst I spent the mornings in lessons. We also loved the local music sessions and wonderful West Cork hospitality!"
